One held with 4 kg hashish in Kanchanpur

Oct 11, 2017-
Police on Tuesday arrested a man in possession of four kg hashish from Bedkot Municipality in Kanchanpur district.
The suspect has been identified as Krishna Danga of Gwani-6, Darchula district.
According to Assistant Sub-Inspector Lokraj Bhatta, Danga was arrested while he was going towards Bagphanta from Lalpur of Bedkot Municipality-5. RSS

Justice missing from judiciary: Dr KC


Oct 11, 2017-Professor Dr Gobinda KC, who is on a strike demanding reforms in the medical education sector, has laments over what he called the 'disappearance of justice from the judiciary'.
He also warned of launching a protest as a civilian to retain judiciary's dignity. Dr KC was talking to media-persons from the TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj where he has been on a fast-one-to-death protest for past seven days. This is the 13th time that Dr KC has been on a strike demanding reforms in medical sector.
"If judiciary is without justice, where will the ordinary people go to seek justice"? It is the responsibility of all Nepalis to fight against this situation," he said.
He expressed discontent over the release of Director General of Nepal Oil Corporation Gopal Khadka accused of misappropriating millions of rupees in purchasing land for the Corporation. Dr KC also accused political parties and their leaders of corrupting states bodies.
He demanded that the Medical Education Bill be endorsed within October 21 before the term of the current Parliament expires. No response to this effect has come in from the government side so far however, he said. RSS

Law minister says election date could change

Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Yagya Bahadur Thapa has hinted at possible deferral of the first phase of federal elections slated for November 26. He, however, said the second phase of election on December 7 will not be postponed.

At an interaction programme organised by Reporters Club in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Minister Thapa said the first phase elections slated on November 26 might be deferred to second phase date of December 7 due to recent political developments.

Thapa said government is making preparations to conduct federal and provincial elections on the same date and sought help from the opposition parties for the same. "Oppositions parties should help the government and should not doubt the government unnecessarily," he said.

Government had earlier decided to hold the two elections on the same date of November 26 but later decided to hold it in two phases--November 26 and December 7--after Election Commission expressed concerns over holding both polls on the same date due to logistical problems and weather conditions.

New party will be formed after dissolution of Maoist Centre: Dahal

CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that a new party will be formed soon after the dissolution of Maoist Centre.

Speaking at a programme organised in the Capital on Wednesday, the former Prime Minister claimed that the political polarisation moving head in the run up to the parliamentary and provincial elections would form a powerful party and would work according to the aspirations of people.

While talking about the unification between Maoist Centre and CPN-United, the Maoist chieftain said, “Discussions are being held to merge the Maoist Centre with other parties. The merger will dissolve the Maoist Centre and will form a powerful party in the nation.”

Ganesh Sah-led CPN-UML merged with the Maoist Centre today.

CPN-UML, Maoist Centre and Naya Shakti Nepal on October 3 had announced to forge an electoral alliance for the upcoming elections and initiate process to merge the parties immediately after the polls.

Leftist alliance for sovereign country: Oli

CPN (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli has claimed the leftist alliance was for making the country sovereign.
During his meeting with the representatives of Non Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Overseas Nepali Forum (ONF) at his residence, Bhaktapur, on Wednesday, he said the formation of the leftist alliance for the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies had triggered wave in the various power centres.
He sought support from all citizens to make the country sovereign and prosperous.

Ox gores man to death

Bhimduttanagar, Oct 11 :

 A 35-year-old man died Wednesday following an attack by an ox at Belauri Municipality-2 in Kanchanpur district.
Somari Khuna who was providing labour for local Jeet Bahadur Chaudhary was gored by the ox used in ploughing the field, the District Police Office, Kanchanpur said.
He, left severely injured in the attack on his chest, died on the way to Dhangadhi for treatment, Deputy Superintendent of Police Gyan Bahadur Setti said.(RSS)
